The Cremaster Cycle by Matthew Barney

I had the opportunity to see all five of these films in the theater. I was making my way from Seattle (where I had been living) back down to Texas before moving to Poland. The exhibition seemed to be following me: I saw some in Seattle, some in San Francisco and the rest in Austin. To this day I've not had a cinematic experience quite like it. In addition to  the broad imaginative strokes Barney paints with he runs the gamut in terms of what he is able to pull in and make work along the way. An abbreviated list : Ursula Andress, Agnostic Front, Formula One driving, Demolition Derby, Petroleum Jelly, process art and line dancing.

I grew up in Texas and live in Wrocław, Poland. I've published two chapbooks with Greying Ghost Press (No Rainbow and Black Box) and an experimental novella called The Sugar Numbers with Black Scat Press. My latest book of short stories entitled Gross in Feather, Loud in Voice is available from Dostoyevsky Wannabe.
